  • Animation of a star under gravitational collapse

Image of a star that is becoming a black hole through gravitational collapse. The star surface is assumed to emit monochromatic radiation with purple color (though it is not very realistic). Initially, the star looks blue due to gravitational redshift. After the collapse begins, color around the center becomes redder and soon becomes infrared. However, color around the limb remains visible.

Although color is accurate, the surface brightness is not accurate.
